Rise and Shine

Five years ago today I posted my very first puzzle on this site, mostly because a newspaper had rejected a grid I loved and I didn't want it to just sit in a folder forever. I had no idea anyone would actually solve it. Since then this blog has become the place I put the puzzles that are too weird, too personal, or too niche for anywhere else — and somehow, against all odds, people keep showing up for them. So: thank you. Genuinely. This puzzle is dedicated to everyone who's ever emailed me a correction, and there have been a lot of you.
